What New Advanced Technologies for Wastewater Treatment ?
Introduction
Technologies for wastewater treatment was the
initial line of research in which the team involved, focusing on both the
physical and chemical processes such as, in particular, in biological
processes. In the last decade, the studied / analyzed technologies have
expanded and adapted to the objectives of the research in order to stay ahead
of new developments.
Thus, the field of physical-chemical treatment
has evolved from coagulation-flocculation, followed by primary and secondary
settling to advanced oxidation with ozone, and filtration through membranes. To find out more information please visit the website Update Techno .
Basic Research
In the field of biological treatment was
started with activated sludge processes for carbon removal, following the
removal of nitrogen and phosphorus for different advanced configurations. Since
the nineties were investigated anaerobic processes, membrane bioreactors and
advanced biofilm systems using both fixed bed and moving bed I, which also
apply to the removal of nitrogen and phosphorus.
The common goal for each of the technologies
(process - system) is to develop guidelines and criteria to optimize the design
and operation. For this purpose, the methodologies applied are always based on
two fundamental lines of action: 1) To carry out experimental tests on test
benches, 2) calibration - validation of specific mathematical models. Thus,
collected and synthesized the guidelines for the design simulation procedures.
This type of research has traditionally done in
collaboration with water engineering in order to increase the competitiveness of
its technology.
